Many parents in their 60s start having dreams of grandchildren running around the house. Perhaps bored after their own family has moved out as independent adults, the thought of occasionally having little nibblets pitter-pattering around the house, eating sweets before dinner, and getting the best gifts from their Meemaw and Poopaw, sounds quite lovely. And yet the current generation of 20-30 year olds has never been more averse to having children. For any number of reasons, whether it's financial or preferential, you can never force a family member to procreate just because you want to have a new relative. It sounds insane when you boil it down like that, I know, but it's far too common that wannabe grandmas and grandpas put the pressure on like that. Especially during the holidays, when you're trapped at the dinner table, they seem to think it's a great time to corner you on the subject of child-rearing.
They say things like, "You should start having kids by now… Clocks ticking," and then quickly ask for the cranberry sauce. This pushy wannabe grandma took things even further than that, signing up her 30-year-old daughter for a parental awareness retreat in an attempt to sway her childfree decision.
